Engagement (Rapid Challenge)
Teacher: "Good morning! Today's theme is powerful communication. I have a 3-minute challenge for you. On the board, you see the word 'PRESENTATION'. In pairs, you have exactly 90 seconds to write down as many words as you can that you associate with a good presentation. Ready? Set the timer on the screen... Go!" (Monitors time). "Time's up! Let's hear some ideas. Pair by the window, share one word." (Writes key words like 'clear', 'confident', 'slides', 'audience' on board). "Excellent! These are all crucial. Today, we will build on these ideas to learn how to structure and deliver effective presentations, working together in teams." Students work in pairs (shoulder partners). They brainstorm and write down associated words (e.g., eye contact, structure, interesting, data, conclusion). One student from each pair shares one word with the whole class upon teacher's request. Descriptors (no points):
  • Actively participates in the brainstorming activity with a partner.
  • Contributes at least one relevant word or idea to the class discussion.
Whiteboard/markers, digital timer (online or projector), student notebooks/pens. AI Tool: An online word cloud generator (e.g., Mentimeter). Students can input words via phones; real-time cloud visualizes common themes, engaging all and showing collective thinking.
