| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: “What if…?” question |
Teacher says: “Good morning! Imagine it’s the year 2050. What if Kazakh national costume completely disappeared from everyday life – no one wears it, no one remembers its meaning. What would be lost for our nation? Think for 30 seconds, then share with your partner. I’ll collect three ideas.” Possible answers: “loss of identity”, “no link to ancestors”, “forget traditions”, “we would lose unique art”. Teacher writes key words on board: identity, heritage, independence, patriotism. |
Students think individually (30 sec), then share in pairs (1 min). Volunteer pairs present one idea. Others listen and can add. |
Descriptors (no points): • Participates in pair discussion. • Offers a relevant idea about cultural loss. • Listens actively to peers. |
Whiteboard, markers; AI tool: ChatGPT (teacher pre-generates 3 provocative “what if” scenarios, but uses only one). Resource: slide with “What if…?” prompt. |
