| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Rapid Challenge Timer) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a 3-minute challenge. Look at the images on the board/screen. I want you to think individually: Which of these activities were essential for human survival thousands of years ago? On your mini-whiteboard or notepad, write down the numbers of the images you think are survival skills. Ready? Timer starts now!" (Displays 6 images: running, archery, swimming, chess, weightlifting, wrestling). After 3 minutes: "Time's up! Now, turn to your shoulder partner and compare your lists for 1 minute. Try to convince your partner if you disagree. Go!" After peer discussion: "Let's hear a few ideas. Why did you choose running?" (Listens to responses). "Excellent points. Today, we will trace the journey of these survival skills. Our guiding question is: How did survival become a game?" | Students observe the images. They work individually for 3 minutes, identifying and noting down survival activities. They then engage in a 1-minute pair discussion, sharing and justifying their choices. Volunteers share their reasoning with the whole class. |
