Teacher: "Good morning! Today's topic is about choices we make as consumers. You have 90 seconds. On the board, you see two columns: 'ORGANIC' and 'NON-ORGANIC'. I need one volunteer from each row to come up and write the first word that comes to your mind when you think of these terms. Pass the marker quickly! Ready? Timer starts... now!" (Monitors time, encourages). "Time's up! Let's quickly look. For 'organic', we have 'healthy', 'expensive'... For 'non-organic', 'cheap', 'chemicals'. Interesting! This connects to our lesson on the organic industry in the UK. Our goals today are to analyse texts, discuss views, and learn new vocabulary on this topic." | Students listen to instructions. Volunteers come to the board to write words. Others observe and think of associations. They engage with the initial brainstorm. | SEN student participates as a writer if comfortable, or can whisper a word to a peer or the teacher to write for them. The teacher provides a printed word bank (healthy, natural, cheap, fast) as a prompt if needed. Focus on participation, not spelling. | Observational: Teacher notes initial vocabulary and engagement level. Descriptor: Student contributes at least one relevant word or idea to the class brainstorm. | Whiteboard/markers, timer (phone/online), printed word bank prompt for SEN. |
