| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Mind Map & Discussion) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Today's topic is all about how we move. I want you to think of the word 'transport'. What comes to your mind? Let's create a mind map on the board. I'll give you 1 minute to think individually." (Writes "TRANSPORT" in the center of the board). After a minute: "Now, share your ideas. [Student name], what's one word?" Writes student suggestions (e.g., car, plane, fast, expensive, eco-friendly, traffic). "Great! Now, let's discuss three of these. 'Eco-friendly' – can you name an eco-friendly transport? 'Traffic' – what problems does it cause? 'Fast' – which transport is the fastest for long distances?" | Students think individually for 1 minute. Volunteers call out their associations. Students answer discussion questions, e.g., "Bicycle is eco-friendly," "Traffic causes pollution and stress," "A plane is the fastest." | Provide a printed visual word bank with images (car, bike, bus, train, plane, ship) and simple words. Allow SEN students to point to a picture or say a single word as their contribution. Pair SEN student with a supportive peer for the discussion phase. | Descriptors: • Contributes at least one relevant word/idea to the mind map. • Participates in the discussion by answering or building on a peer's point.
