| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Preposition Race) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Today, we're racing against time. You have 2 minutes. Look at the board/screen. You see three columns: Time, Place, Movement. I will show you a preposition. Your task, in your teams, is to quickly decide which column it belongs to and write it down. Ready? First word: through. Go!" (Uses timer. Shows 5-6 prepositions: through, at, before, into, on, from). "Time's up! Let's check. Team 1, where did you put 'through'? Correct, Movement! Team 2, 'at'? Yes, Time or Place, good point! This is our topic today: mastering these little but powerful words." |
Students work in pre-assigned groups of 3-4. They discuss quickly and write the preposition in the correct column on their mini-whiteboard or paper. They participate in the review, justifying their choices. | Provide a visual anchor chart with clear icons for Time (clock), Place (house), Movement (arrow). Assign a supportive peer in the group. Allow verbal instead of written response. | Descriptors: The student participates in the group discussion. The student attempts to categorize the prepositions. (no points) | Timer (online or phone), Projector/Whiteboard with pre-slides of prepositions and columns, Mini-whiteboards & markers, Visual anchor chart. |
