Teacher: "Good morning! I have a small problem. This weekend, I need to organize a small welcome party for a friend who is visiting our town. I'm thinking about food and drinks. What do you think is the most important thing to do first? Talk to your partner for 1 minute and predict: What will be the first step in my plan?" After 1 minute: "Okay, let's hear your predictions. [Student A], what did you and your partner decide?" Scripting possible responses: "We think you need to decide what food to make." / "You should check what ingredients you have at home." Teacher: "Interesting predictions! Let's keep this in mind. Today's topic is all about making clear plans and arrangements, just like for a party or any task. We will listen to how others do it and then make our own perfect plans." |
Students discuss in pairs (2 pairs total). They make a prediction about the teacher's first step. They share their ideas with the class. | Provide a visual prompt on the board/screen with 3 simple picture options: 1) a shopping list, 2) a phone (for inviting), 3) a recipe book. The SEN student can point to or name a picture to contribute. | Descriptors (no points): • The student participates in the pair discussion. • The student makes a logical prediction related to planning. |
