| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement: “What if…?” |
Teacher says: “Good morning, everyone! Let’s start with a fun question. What if there were no winter in Kazakhstan – only spring, summer and autumn? How would our holidays change? What would happen to animals, plants, and our clothes? Think for 30 seconds, then share with a partner. I will call 3–4 students.” Teacher writes on board: “What if … no winter?” Elicits 4–5 ideas (e.g., “we can’t ski”, “no New Year snow”, “plants grow all year”). Uses ChatGPT (quick idea generator) to show 3 possible scenarios on screen as a model (optional). “Listen to your classmates, respect different points of view.” |
Total class engagement: 13 students – pairs (6 pairs, one trio). |
Descriptors (no points): • contributes an idea to partner (any language attempt) • listens to other ideas without interrupting • shows respect (nodding, eye contact) |
• Whiteboard / markers • ChatGPT (optional, projected) • Timer (1 min) |
