1. Goal 1 (comprehension): Students will listen to an extended conversation about past hobby experiences and identify the main ideas, supporting details and speakers’ attitudes without teacher support.
2. Goal 2 (speaking / justification): Students will explain and justify their own opinion about a past event related to diligence or professionalism using at least two arguments and past tense structures.
3. Goal 3 (value integration): Students will demonstrate the ability to finish a planned task with quality and show persistence during group creative work.

Teacher says: “Let’s start with a riddle about a hobby and a quality. Listen carefully: I am something you love to do when you are free. I can make you forget the time. I need patience and practice to become good. People often say I build character. What am I? And which quality helps you improve in me?”

Ask students to turn to a partner and share one hypothesis. Then elicit 2–3 answers. Expected: hobby (e.g. playing an instrument, drawing, sport) + quality (persistence, diligence).

Link to the topic: “Today we talk about past events related to hobbies and qualities like diligence and professionalism.”
