Teacher: "Good morning, class! Today's topic is 'Transport'. Let's start with a 1-minute mind map. On your mini-whiteboards, write the word 'TRANSPORT' in the center. In one minute, write down all the words you associate with it. Ready? Go!" (Times 60 seconds). "Stop! Now, look at your map. I will ask three of you to share one word and explain your choice. Aruzhan, what's one word from your map?" Possible student response: "Car." Teacher: "Why did you choose 'car'?" Possible student response: "Because my family uses a car every day." Teacher: "Thank you. Daniyar, what's one word from your map?" (Continues with two more students). "Excellent. These words are all nouns – names for things. Today we will expand our vocabulary of transport nouns and use them in sentences about our experiences." |
Students quickly create an individual mind map on their mini-whiteboards or notebooks. They listen to peers and volunteer to share their associations and reasoning. |
