  2. Work cooperatively in pairs and groups to complete a class questionnaire about free time and present the results using basic abstract/compound nouns (e.g., friendship, photography, cycling).
  3. Create a short written summary (6 sentences) about personal and group interests using correct noun phrases and key phrases.

Engagement – Storytelling with mistake

Teacher: “Good morning! Today I’ll tell you about my free time, but I’ll make one big mistake. Listen and spot it!”

Story: “Yesterday I played football alone, then I hated chatting with friends on the internet, after that I watched TV and really disliked photography. I also said I’m not into cycling. Wait, what’s wrong? My hobby is actually photography! I love it!”

Prompt: “Which word did I use wrong? Raise your hand when you know.”

Allow 2–3 answers. Confirm: “I actually love photography, but I said ‘disliked’. The mistake is negative phrase for a hobby I really like.”

Transition: “Today you will talk about your real hobbies using correct phrases.”

AI tool suggestion (for teacher prep): ChatGPT to generate similar stories with one deliberate mistake.
  • Listen to the story.
  • Identify the mistake (negative phrase used for a hobby the teacher actually likes).
  • Volunteer answer: “You said you hate photography, but you love it.”
 SEN support: Visual prompt on board: list of key phrases with smileys (positive / negative).
AI use: Use a text-to-speech tool (e.g., NaturalReader) to repeat the story slowly for SEN students. 		Descriptors (no points):
