  • Goal 1 (knowledge & use): By the end of the lesson, 90% of students will correctly choose much/many/a little/a few/all/both/fewer/less in at least 5 out of 7 gap-fill sentences (controlled practice).
  • Goal 2 (productive): Students will write a short paragraph (50–70 words) about a past event (e.g., a trip, a party) using at least 4 different quantifiers from the target set, with no more than 2 errors in quantifier choice.
  • Goal 3 (interaction): In pair work, students will ask and answer 3 questions about quantities using too much/too many/enough and report one answer to the class.

Lesson opening (5 min)
Engagement (mind map)

1. Greeting & settling (30 sec): "Good morning, everyone! Look at the board: the word 'QUANTITY'. In 1 minute, you will draw a quick mind map of any words that come to mind – in English or even in Kazakh/Russian. Go!"

2. Mind map (1 min): Students draw individually on A5 paper. Teacher circulates, nods.

3. Elicit 3 associations (2 min): "Sara, what did you write? … 'much' – great. Askhan? … 'a little'. Aisha? … 'many'. Let's discuss: When do we use 'much' and when 'many'?" (quick elicitation).

4. Link to lesson (1 min): "Today we’ll master these quantifiers and use them in writing."

  • Draw a mind map around 'quantity' – any associated words (some, enough, few, etc.).
  • Volunteer to share 3 words; listen to brief explanation.
  • Respond to teacher's questions about much/many.
Descriptors (no points):
  • Participates in mind map (at least 2–3 words).
  • Shares one association voluntarily.
