| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (method: Mind map + discussion) |
1. Greeting & warm-up (1 min): “Good morning, class! Today we listen about living things at the zoo. First, think of one word that comes to mind when you hear ‘zoo animals’.” 2. Mind map (1 min): Draw a quick web on the board with “ZOO” in the centre. Ask each student to say one association (e.g., tiger, cage, feed, baby). Write 13 words around it. 3. Pick 3 to discuss (3 min): Circle three words: “tiger”, “baby”, “feed”. Ask: “Why might a baby monkey stay with its mother?” / “Are tigers dangerous? Why?” / “What do snakes eat?” Encourage 2–3 short answers per word. |
• Each student says one association word (no repeats). • Listen to peers and add ideas. • Answer the teacher’s questions in full sentences or phrases. |
Descriptors (no points): • Participates with at least one word. • Responds to at least one discussion question with a relevant idea. |
