Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a mystery. I am a creature of the deep, with eight arms and two longer tentacles. I have the largest eyes in the animal kingdom. I am elusive and rarely seen by humans. What am I? (Giant squid). Now, imagine this creature is not just a subject of science, but of a thrilling story. Your hypothesis: What would happen if a giant squid attacked a modern submarine? Discuss in pairs for one minute." Teacher listens to 2-3 hypotheses. "Interesting ideas! Today, we will read a fictional account of such an event and become experts on the style of writing used. We'll also think about the rules and order needed in such a dangerous situation." | Students listen to the riddle, guess the answer. They discuss their hypotheses in pairs about a squid attacking a submarine. Volunteers share their creative ideas with the class. | Descriptors: Student participates in the riddle, offers a logical hypothesis, listens to peers. (No points) | Whiteboard/Projector for riddle.
