T: "Good morning, class! Today, we are going on an adventure to the highest mountain in the world – Mount Everest! Let me tell you a short story about my friend Alex. 'Alex loves mountains. He climbed Mount Everest last week. He has never seen snow before. He was very happy.' Did you hear anything strange in my story? Think for a moment."
T: "Yes! The mistake is: if he climbed Everest last week, he couldn't have 'never seen snow before' because Everest has a lot of snow! We use 'has never seen' to talk about his whole life up to NOW. Today, we will learn to talk about things people have never done in their lives using the Present Perfect tense. Our topic is the Everest Expedition." |
Students listen to the story. They think individually, then discuss with a partner (pair work). They try to identify the logical mistake. Volunteers share their ideas with the class. | Provide the story in written form with key sentences highlighted. Use a visual (picture of Everest with snow). Teacher can repeat the story slowly, emphasizing the contradictory sentences. | Descriptors: The student listens attentively. The student participates in pair discussion. The student attempts to identify the contradiction in the story. No points. |
Projector/Screen, Slide with the story text and a picture of Mount Everest. AI Tool: Text-to-speech generator (e.g., NaturalReader) to read the story aloud with emphasis, aiding auditory learners and SEN students. |
