| Lesson opening (5 min) Engagement (Mind Map & Discussion) |
Teacher: "Good morning! Today's topic is inventions. Let's start with a 1-minute mind map. On your mini-whiteboards, write down all words or ideas you associate with 'invention'. Ready? Go!" (Times 60 seconds). "Time's up. Look at your maps. Now, choose the three most interesting or surprising associations. In pairs, discuss: Why did you choose these three? What do they tell us about what an invention is or does?" Possible prompts: "Is an invention always a physical object? Can it be a bad thing? Who is responsible for how an invention is used?" |
Students individually create a mind map on "invention". They then pair up, share their three selected associations, and discuss their significance. Possible responses: "I wrote 'smartphone', 'light bulb', and 'internet' because they connect people." / "I chose 'plastic', 'engine', and 'AI' because they have good and bad sides." |
