Lesson goal
  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask for and give personal contact information (email, phone number) using a variety of question types (e.g., "What's your email?", "How do you spell that?") and possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her) with 90% accuracy in a controlled practice.
  • Students will demonstrate understanding of formal vs. informal register by choosing appropriate language (e.g., "Could you tell me your email, please?" vs. "What's your email?") in a simulated role-play scenario.
  • Students will apply the value of fairness and responsibility by collaboratively creating and agreeing on a set of "Netiquette Rules" for email communication, justifying their choices in a group discussion.

Lesson opening (5 min)
Engagement (Rapid Q&A Challenge)
Teacher: "Good morning! Let's start with a quick warm-up. You have 3 minutes. I will show you a picture of a person on the screen. With your partner, ask and answer as many questions as you can to get their personal information. Use the words on the board: name, country, phone, email. Ready? Go! (Starts timer)."
After 3 minutes: "Time's up! Who can tell me one thing you found out about the person? (Listens to answers). Great! Today, we're focusing on one key piece of info: 'What's your email?'"
Students work in pairs. They look at the projected image and engage in rapid dialogue.
Student A: "What's his name?"
Student B: "His name is David."
Student A: "What's his email?"
Student B: "I think it's [email protected]."
They try to ask and answer using the prompts.
Descriptors:
