Teacher: "Good morning! Let me tell you a short story about my friend, Alex. Last week, he had a very important online job interview. He was so nervous! To prepare, he used a new AI app that promised to write perfect answers for him. During the interview, Alex just read the answers from his screen. The interviewer asked a follow-up question, and Alex was completely lost because he hadn't really understood the AI's text. By the end of the interview, he will have failed it."
Pause for reaction. "What did you notice about my story? Is there something strange in the last sentence? Think about it for 20 seconds, then discuss with your elbow partner." Expected Mistake: Using Future Perfect ("will have failed") for a past event. The correct tense should be Past Perfect ("had failed"). After pair discussion, ask: "Who spotted it? Yes, the tense is wrong for a finished past event. Today, we'll use the Future Perfect correctly to talk about completed actions in the future, especially when giving advice for future communication successes." |
Listen attentively to the story. Identify the deliberate grammatical mistake. Discuss with a partner (elbow partner) to confirm their hypothesis. Volunteer to explain the mistake. | Provide the story key points as a simple written text with the trigger sentence highlighted. Use visuals (a simple comic strip) depicting the story sequence. Pre-teach key vocabulary (interview, nervous, AI app). | Descriptors only (no points):
