Greenpeace was founded in 1971 in Vancouver, Canada. Its main goal is to protect the natural environment and to promote peace. The organization is known for its direct actions: its ships, such as the Rainbow Warrior, are used to stop illegal whaling and to protest against nuclear testing. Greenpeace is supported by millions of people around the world, and many environmental campaigns have been organized by its volunteers. In Kazakhstan, Greenpeace has never been banned; it works legally together with local ecological groups. Every year, new supporters are attracted by the organization's simple message: "We must protect the planet for future generations."
