🔊 Instructions for you: This worksheet has 5 tasks. Some tasks ask for your opinion, others check how well you can understand different viewpoints about gadgets. Read each question carefully. There are no wrong opinions – but try to explain your ideas. You can write in full sentences or short notes. Look for visual hints 🧩 and sentence starters 💬 to help you.
🗣️ Task 1. Two sides, one question 2 points
“Do smartphones make people more connected or more lonely?”
Step A: Read two short opinions below.
✔️ Aya (age 15): “With my phone I talk to my cousin in another country every day. We feel close.”
✔️ Bek (age 15): “At dinner my parents are on their phones. Sometimes we don’t speak. I feel lonely.”
Step B: Choose one opinion and finish the sentence below. Then write one more reason that supports that person.
💬 I mostly agree with (Aya / Bek) because _______________________________________________
➕ Another reason: __________________________________________________________________
🧩 Tip: if you agree with both, that’s also OK. You can say: “I see both sides. On one hand… On the other hand…”
🔄 Task 2. Unexpected comment – quick response 2 points
Imagine this: Your class is discussing whether teenagers spend too much time on gadgets. Suddenly a classmate says: “Actually, my grandmother uses video calls every day, and she says technology makes her feel 20 years younger!”
Your task: Write a short reply (2–3 sentences) that shows you respect this unexpected point of view. You can agree, partly agree, or politely ask a question.
