The Great Cake Marathon
In 2023, a small town in Italy attempted a truly spectacular, and some might say slightly crazy, world record. They baked and assembled the longest cake in history, measuring over 2.5 kilometers! It was a rainbow-colored sponge cake filled with vanilla cream. Thousands of volunteers worked for two days. The final creation snaked through the entire main square. Local newspapers called it "a breathtaking symbol of community spirit." However, a food blogger from another country wrote, "While the teamwork is admirable, one can't help but think about the sheer amount of ingredients used. In a world with food shortages, is this the best use of our resources? It's fun, but is it sensible?" The cake was eventually cut into 20,000 pieces and shared with residents and visitors.
