Hello!
This worksheet will help you learn about wild animals, where they live, and how to use special words in English. Read the explanations carefully. You have 3 tasks. Write your answers in the spaces provided. You can use a dictionary if you need to. Good luck!
Task 1. Let's Read and Learn! (4.3.5.1)
Explanation: We use Possessive Nouns to show who owns something. We add 's to the name of the animal. For example: the lion's mane, the elephant's trunk.
Nouns can be Countable (you can count them: one lion, two lions) or Uncountable (you cannot count them: water, air, grass).
Read the short story. Use a dictionary for new words.
Leo the Lion's Home
This is Leo. Leo is a lion. Leo's home is the savannah. The savannah has a lot of grass. It is hot. Leo has friends. These are zebras and giraffes. The giraffe's neck is very long. The zebra's stripes are black and white. That water in the lake is important for all animals. Those trees over there give shade. Animals need food and water. Food here is meat for lions and grass for zebras. Water is uncountable. We say "some water", not "a water".
Now, answer the questions.
- Where is Leo's home?
- Name two countable nouns from the story.
- Name one uncountable noun from the story.
- Complete the sentence: The _______________ neck is very long. (Use a possessive noun).
