Level of Thinking Skills: Knowledge and Comprehension
Instructions: You will hear a short talk about a school project. Listen carefully TWICE. For questions 1-3, choose the correct answer (A, B, or C). For questions 4-6, deduce the meaning of the underlined words/phrases from the context. Write your answers.
Audio Script (for teacher):
"Hello, everyone. For our upcoming science fair, our class has decided to focus on renewable energy. My group is researching solar power. We found that solar panels, which convert sunlight into electricity, are becoming much more efficient and affordable. However, one major drawback is that they don't work at night or on very cloudy days. To solve this, we need efficient energy storage systems, like batteries. Our plan is to build a small model house powered entirely by a mini solar panel and a battery. We have to allocate tasks: Aruzhan will research battery types, Dana will design the model house, and I will handle the solar panel connections. We hope our project will demonstrate a viable off-grid energy solution. We're meeting tomorrow after school to finalize our materials list."
